桃陵公園

Taoling Park is a mountain park in Tadotsu featuring approximately 1,500 cherry trees that bloom in spring and a layout that takes visitors across Mount Hondai. The grounds include play areas, recreational facilities, and overlook vistas toward the Seto Inland Sea and the local port.

The site was originally home to a castle from medieval times before being transformed into a public park in the early 1900s. Military support from a regional division helped establish the grounds as a recreational area for the community.

The park serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience the arrival of spring through cherry blossom viewing, a tradition deeply rooted in Japanese seasonal celebrations. This custom shapes how people spend their free time and reinforces community bonds throughout the year.

The park sits about a 15-minute walk from JR Tadotsu Station and offers free parking. Paved walkways and well-maintained grounds make it easy to explore the different areas and facilities on the property.

The grounds feature an automated carillon clock that plays melodies throughout the day, with seasonal songs that shift to match the time of year. This unexpected musical element creates a distinctive character that sets the park apart from typical recreation areas.
