柏市中央體育館, Sports complex in Kashiwa, Japan
The Kashiwa Central Gymnasium (柏市中央體育館) is a public sports facility in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. It includes a main competition arena, training rooms for general sports, dedicated halls for martial arts, and a section for archery.
The facility was built in the 1980s and has been the main public sports center for Kashiwa since then. In 2020, the arena floor and lighting were updated as part of a renovation project.
The building has separate halls for judo, kendo, and sumo, which local clubs use on a regular basis. These spaces follow the layout and rules expected for each discipline, making them feel closer to a dojo than a generic gym.
The gymnasium is within walking distance of Kita-Kashiwa Station, and a local bus also connects the two. Weekday mornings tend to be less crowded, which can make access to the training rooms easier.
First-time users of the training room are required to attend a short orientation session, offered three times a day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and public holidays. This applies to everyone, regardless of prior sports experience.
