Shin-Ōtone Bridge, Road bridge between Toride and Kashiwa, Japan
The steel bridge stretches 711 meters across the Tone River, connecting Ibaraki Prefecture's Toride City with Chiba Prefecture's Kashiwa City.
Opened on April 17, 1980, the bridge operated as a toll road for 30 years until becoming free for all vehicles in April 2010.
The bridge functions as an economic link between two prefectures, with numerous shopping centers near the Toride entrance attracting visitors from both regions.
The structure includes dedicated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, connecting to surrounding cycling paths and providing students with a route to school.
During its toll road period, nighttime passages were free of charge while maintaining constant free access for pedestrians and cyclists through separate pathways.
