Tanabe City Museum of Art

The Tanabe City Museum of Art presents a collection of tea ceremony arts and utensils within a modern architectural structure designed by Sakakura Associates.

The museum traces its origins to the Tanabe family, who began iron production in Yoshida village around 1460 and later established this cultural institution.

The exhibition spaces display craft pieces from Izumo artisans and maintain a strong connection with traditional Japanese tea ceremony practices and artifacts.

Located five minutes from Shinjo Byoin Mae bus stop, the museum operates from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with entry at 260 yen for adults.

The adjacent Minakata Kumagusu Archives contain a computer database and hologram display representing the scholar's philosophical mandala of existence.
