Yonako Falls, Double waterfall system in Suzaka, Japan

Yonako Falls features two parallel water cascades plunging down steep rock faces side by side, creating a distinctive double-stream formation. Both falls originate from the same mountainous region above and flow into a single river system below.

The area surrounding these falls was once the site of sulfur mining operations that have since been abandoned and reclaimed by nature. The waterfalls themselves have remained unchanged through these industrial periods.

Local visitors have long been drawn to this site to experience the power of nature, and the twin cascade arrangement holds special meaning for those who seek out such natural wonders.

The journey here by car involves driving through mountain passes, with road conditions varying by season. Arriving early in the day offers better lighting for viewing and fewer other visitors on the paths.

The water feeding these falls comes from two separate mountain peaks that merge into a single river below, which flows into the larger Chikuma River system. This convergence of different water sources creates a distinctive hydrological feature.
