Ryugin Falls

Ryugin Falls is a waterfall in Tochigi Prefecture that descends through dense forest, creating natural pools and rock formations along its course. The water flows in multiple cascades before settling into calmer areas where visitors can observe the landscape.

The waterfall was recognized in 1990 by Japanese authorities as one of the country's most distinguished waterfalls. This official designation made it an important location in the national conservation and tourism framework.

The name means Dragon's Song in Japanese, and locals describe the sound of the cascading water as resembling the voice of a mythical creature.

The waterfall is best viewed from an observation platform located near a traditional teahouse, which offers views of the surrounding mountain landscape. From this vantage point, visitors can also enjoy local refreshments while taking in the scenery.

Behind the teahouse sits a hidden observation platform that offers an unusual perspective of the waterfall from within the forest. This secluded spot is often missed by visitors who only follow the main approach path.
