Kii Kokubun-ji, Provincial temple in Kinokawa, Japan.
Kii Kokubun-ji occupies a square area measuring 218 meters on the north bank of the Kinokawa River in Wakayama Prefecture.
The temple, established during Emperor Shomu's reign between 710 and 794, received its first documented mention in ancient texts from 756.
The main hall contains a statue of Yakushi Nyorai, representing the Buddha of healing and medicine in Japanese Buddhist traditions.
Located within 15 minutes walking distance from Shimo-Isaka Station, the temple grounds include an archaeological park displaying excavated foundations.
Archaeological studies revealed foundation remains of a seven-story pagoda, indicating the temple's original grand architectural scale.
