Gunma Civic Hall

Gunma Civic Hall, Music center in Takasaki, Japan

Gunma Civic Hall is a music center in Takasaki with five performance spaces spread across three floors. Each space is designed for orchestras, choirs, and solo musicians to rehearse and perform.

The building was designed by Raymond Design Office and completed in 1991 using white reinforced concrete. It was created to serve as a music center for Gunma Prefecture.

The hall hosts classical concerts and traditional Japanese art forms like Kabuki and Noh theater throughout the year. Visitors can experience the full range of musical expression that matters to the local community.

The venue is easy to reach on foot from the west exit of Takasaki Station, with a walk of about 10 minutes. The location at 28-2 Takamatsucho makes it straightforward to find.

Certain practice areas maintain strict acoustic rules that prohibit electronic instruments during rehearsals. This approach preserves the focus on traditional musical practice at the facility.
