Murasaki Shikibu Park

Murasaki Shikibu Park features a Heian-period style garden with a central pond, fishing pavilion, and wisteria trellises spread across 1.9 hectares.

The park commemorates Lady Murasaki Shikibu, who visited this location while accompanying her father Fujiwara no Tametoki during the early 11th century.

A golden statue created by Medal of Cultural Merit recipient Katsuzou Entsuba stands within the park, representing the author of The Tale of Genji.

Visitors can reach the park by taking the Fukui Railway Line to Takefu Station, then boarding a Fukutetsu bus to the Murasaki Shikibu Park stop.

The adjacent Murasaki Yukari Museum, opened in 2021, displays traditional crafts and presents Lady Murasaki's writing process through graphic installations.
