観音滝公園

Kannon Falls Park is a natural park in Satsuma featuring a two-stream waterfall that descends along a steep rocky cliff within a forested valley in Kagoshima Prefecture. The site is surrounded by dense woodland and provides visitors with a natural setting where water and forest meet.

In 1898, construction of a hydroelectric power plant began at the falls, but the project was abandoned due to insufficient water flow. This early industrial attempt did not alter the natural landscape, which has remained largely unchanged since then.

A temple dedicated to Kannon, the Buddhist deity of mercy, sits within the park and continues to draw visitors who participate in religious ceremonies and observe rituals throughout the year. This sacred presence remains an important focal point for the local community and pilgrims seeking spiritual connection.
