Danbata in Yusumizugaura, Cultural landscape in Uwajima, Japan.
The Yusumizugaura terraced fields consist of stacked stone walls rising 80 meters above sea level, with steep inclines of over 30 degrees facing the Uwa Sea.
The stone terrace agricultural system demonstrates farming techniques developed over generations to maximize cultivation on mountainous coastal terrain in Ehime Prefecture.
These terraced fields received designation as a National Important Cultural Landscape in 2007, earning recognition among the 100 most beautiful villages in Japan.
The site includes a specialty product shop called Dandan-ya and a restaurant operating from 11:00 to 14:00 on weekends, with parking available for 20 vehicles.
The fields produce crops through a specialized farming method that utilizes sunlight and heat retention from the carefully constructed stone walls.
