Ryōnan Park is a recreation facility in Hachiōji featuring sports fields, playgrounds, and activity areas situated along the Minami-Asakawa river. The grounds contain multiple zones designed for different types of community use and leisure.
The site served as a cycling venue for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and was turned into a park afterwards. It lies in Nagabusa-machi and Higashi-Asakawa-machi, Hachiōji, next to the Minami-Asakawa river. Its name refers to its position south of the Musashi Imperial Tombs.
The name Ryōnan comes from the park's position south of the Musashi Imperial Mausoleum. It sits beside the Minami-Asakawa and reads as one continuous greenway with the Minami-Asakawa promenade. The grounds hold the Hachiōji municipal baseball ground and the municipal pool.
The park sits beside the Minami-Asakawa in Hachioji's Nagabusa and Higashi-Asakawa districts, and the riverside greenway runs through it. The nearest station is Takao on the Chuo Line, about 20 minutes on foot from its north exit. The grounds hold the city-run baseball ground and swimming pool.
The park's name comes from its position south of the Musashi Imperial Mausoleum, not from the river beside it. The Minami-Asakawa Greenway runs alongside the grounds, so the park and the riverside path read as one continuous strip.
