阿賀野川當麻橋樑, Railway bridge over Agano River in Aga, Japan
The Agano River Taima Bridge is a railway bridge in Aga consisting of three sections with two Warren truss spans and one Pratt truss span. The structure stretches 175.7 meters and connects Hidetani Station to Kase Station on the JR East Banetsu West Line.
The original structure built in 1914 featured a Baltimore truss design before being replaced in 1929 with the current form. The change was necessary to address flooding issues affecting the crossing.
The railway line near Hirase settlement attracts photographers and train enthusiasts who document Japan's transportation development. Many visitors come to capture distinctive views of the bridge spanning the river from different angles.
The structure is visible from the riverbank and can be photographed from various positions, especially in good weather. Daytime visits are best when light conditions are favorable for capturing images.
The old pillars and abutments of the original bridge remain visible alongside the current structure. These remnants offer a direct view of early 20th-century engineering techniques.
