麒麟橋, Steel truss bridge in Aga, Japan.
Kirin Bridge is a steel truss bridge that carries traffic across the Agano River in Aga. The structure features multiple spans and a wide roadway to accommodate vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.
The original bridge was destroyed by a typhoon in 1958, after which a new steel truss structure was built and opened in 1961. This replacement has served as a major river crossing for the area ever since.
The bridge connects the Tsugawa district with residential areas and the Tsugawa Station, forming a vital link in the local transportation network.
The bridge is open year-round and provides separate spaces for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. During high water periods on the river, conditions on and around the bridge may be more challenging.
Major renovation work took place between 2009 and 2010 after concrete cracking and steel corrosion were discovered. A bypass road was constructed during these repairs to keep traffic flowing while the work progressed.
