Kuroda Castle, Medieval fortress in Owari Province, Japan

The castle stands near the Kiso River, occupying a strategic position between the provinces of Owari and Mino along the Kamakura Highway.

Goto Mitsuyasu established the initial structure during the Meio period, and the Yamauchi clan later transformed it into a military stronghold during the 16th century.

The castle grounds reflect traditional Japanese fortification methods, incorporating natural terrain features and multiple defensive layers typical of feudal architecture.

The site, now part of Kuroda Elementary School in Ichinomiya City, includes stone markers and information panels about the former castle structures.

The fortress gained recognition as the birthplace of Yamauchi Kazutoyo, who later became the first lord of the Tosa Domain.
