イオンモール今治新都市, Einkaufszentrum in Japan
Aeon Mall Imabari Shin Toshi is a shopping center in the Shin Toshi development area of Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. It houses over 100 stores covering fashion, household goods, and food, along with a cinema, a food court, and children's play areas.
The mall opened in 2016 as one of the first large retail developments in the newly built Shin Toshi neighborhood. Its arrival shaped the daily life of this part of Imabari as the area was still taking shape around it.
The mall's children's play area is themed around the Murakami Pirates, a group of seafarers historically tied to this coastal region. This gives the space a local identity that sets it apart from other retail centers in the area.
The mall is easy to reach by car thanks to a nearby highway interchange, and a large parking area is available throughout the day. Bus and shuttle services also connect the mall to other parts of the city for those traveling without a car.
The mall was planned as a central part of the Shin Toshi district from the very beginning, not added later to an already existing neighborhood. In a way, the surrounding area grew around the mall rather than the other way around.
