Sarashina Signal Base, Railway signal base in Bandai, Japan.
Sarashina Signal Base is a railway signal control facility located along the Ban'etsu West Line in Bandai, Fukushima Prefecture. It manages train movements on the single-track section running between Okinashima and Bandaimachi.
The facility opened on December 20, 1962, under the management of Japanese National Railways. When the national rail network was privatized, operations passed to East Japan Railway Company.
In Japan, railway infrastructure is treated with a level of care that visitors from abroad often notice right away. Even small operational facilities like this one are kept tidy and clearly marked, reflecting the attention given to every part of the network.
The site is not open to the public and serves only railway staff, so there is nothing to visit inside. The facility can be seen from the surrounding area, but access to the operational grounds is not permitted.
Although the facility is classified as a staff halt, no regular passenger train stops here for the public. The stop exists solely to allow railway workers to access this remote point along the line.
