田主丸大塚古墳

The Tanushimaru Otsuka Kofun extends 103 meters in length with a circular rear portion measuring 60 meters in diameter.

This burial mound structure from the late 6th century CE was the largest of its type in Kyushu during the period of its construction.

The burial mound reflects architectural techniques of the Kofun period, featuring a distinctive keyhole shape characteristic of elite tombs in ancient Japan.

Visitors can access the site from Tanushimaru Station via a 5-minute car ride, with free admission and parking facilities available at the historical park.

The site underwent transformation into the Otsuka Historical Park in 2007, where cherry trees now bloom during spring around the ancient tomb.
