朧大橋, Arch bridge in Yame City, Japan
The Oboro Bridge is a steel arch bridge spanning the Hirokawa Valley with a distinctive curved structure crossing the landscape. The structure connects the isolated area with Kurume City and enables daily passage across the valley.
Construction began after the 1990 legislation for rural revitalization, intended to connect isolated communities with Kurume. The project was part of a broader effort to improve transport links in sparsely populated areas.
The bridge bears the name of the nearby Oboro district and serves today as a popular spot for photography and local outings. People come here to enjoy views and connect with their surroundings.
You can park at Warabenosato Park or Furusato Warabe Museum and enjoy different viewing angles of the bridge. Both parking areas offer good pathways to see the structure from various perspectives.
The name comes from the historical Oboro district, linked to past battles at Hosshin Castle. This history gives the place an additional layer of local significance beyond the modern infrastructure.
