AQUAIGNIS
AQUAIGNIS is a large resort area in Komono town, Mie Prefecture, combining natural hot springs, restaurants, and overnight lodging. The facility features water from deep underground springs at approximately 42 degrees Celsius flowing continuously, along with multiple dining areas including Italian and Japanese restaurants, a bakery, and a farm where produce is grown for on-site meals.
The site was built on what was once called Yuno-Yama Kataoka Onsen, a historic hot spring area used for relaxation for many years. This facility opened in late 2012, combining the natural springs with modern restaurants and overnight accommodations.
The name AQUAIGNIS comes from Latin words meaning water and fire, representing the hot springs and the warmth of food prepared here. When walking through the grounds, you see people spending time with friends and family, enjoying meals made from local ingredients in spaces surrounded by nature.
Free parking is available near the main entrance, making it easy to start exploring the grounds right away. The facility is accessible by public transportation including express buses from Nagoya, and offers both day visits and overnight stays.
The resort includes an on-site farm where ingredients are grown for the restaurants, along with seasonal strawberry picking available to visitors. This connection between food and farming adds an extra dimension to the experience of rest and nourishment at the location.
