The Shinshu Kanko Hotel is an abandoned thermal resort beside the Chikuma River, displaying weathered wooden facades and empty pool basins. The multi-story structure sits among trees and preserves the typical layout of mid-20th-century Japanese bathhouse architecture.

The building opened during the tourism boom in the Togura-Kamiyamada Onsen region and attracted travelers passing through on their way to Zenkoji Temple. The facility closed several years ago after a prolonged decline in visitors to smaller Japanese thermal resorts.

The establishment maintains traditional Japanese bathing customs, with separate thermal pools where guests follow specific cleaning and soaking protocols.

The site is not open to visitors and the building structure shows visible wear and safety hazards. Those interested in abandoned places should view the grounds only from outside and respect surrounding property boundaries.

The windows and balconies still frame views of the forested hills and river, though the interior has been untouched for years. Wild plants grow through cracks in the outer walls and envelop parts of the former bathing rooms.
