安穏寺

Annon-ji is a Buddhist temple situated at the intersection of residential streets, with a main hall containing religious statues and ritual objects. The grounds feature stone lanterns, memorial markers, and a dedicated hall housing a Jizo Bodhisattva statue for worship.

The main hall collapsed during a storm in 1885 and was reconstructed by 1925, requiring decades of restoration work. This rebuilding effort demonstrates the commitment to maintaining the temple through significant challenges.

This temple serves as the 41st stop on the Tamagawa 88 Temple Pilgrimage, drawing visitors who walk the traditional Buddhist route through the region. Pilgrims pause here as part of their spiritual journey along this established path.

The temple is situated within a residential neighborhood, so arriving on foot and exploring the surrounding quiet streets works best. Visitors should expect uneven surfaces and traditional stone pathways that are part of the historic character.

The temple preserves historical grave markers and stone lanterns linked to its founder Kuroemon Yoshioka from the Genroku period. These surviving objects offer rare glimpses into the personal history and origins of the site.
