Kitami Fureai Hiroba

Kitami Fureai Hiroba is an urban park in Kitami built above a railway maintenance facility, offering open lawns, a pond, and play areas. The space spans multiple levels with fitness equipment and access points on several sides.

The park opened in March 1997 as an innovative solution to create public green space above an active railway facility. This project made the area available for the community while allowing train operations to continue below.

The park serves as a gathering space where neighbors connect and spend time enjoying green space within the city. Many people come here to relax or meet informally with family and friends.

The park is easily accessible via stairs and ramps on the north, west, and east sides, welcoming people with different mobility needs. Public restrooms are available on-site, and the flat pathways work well for strollers or extended visits.

From the park, visitors can watch Odakyu Line trains passing directly below while enjoying views toward Mount Fuji in the distance. This combination of urban and natural elements makes the experience unusual for an inner-city location.
