龍泉寺, Buddhist temple in Kakunodate, Japan
The Ryusenji Temple features traditional Japanese architectural elements with a main hall and multiple religious statues placed throughout the grounds.
The temple dates back to the Asuka period, established in 592 CE during the reign of Empress Suiko, with later renovations by Kukai.
The temple grounds include stone lanterns, Jizo statues, and a garden that represents elements of Buddhist cosmology and Japanese landscaping traditions.
Visitors can reach Ryusenji Temple by taking a 7-minute walk from Kakunodate Station, with opening hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
The temple houses a collection of six Jizo statues from the mid-Edo period, representing the six realms of existence in Buddhist philosophy.
