The museum opened in 2002 to mark the 30th anniversary of a food company. Since then it has served as a place to document and display the variety of eating practices from around the world.
The museum displays food traditions from around the world and explores how eating customs shape daily life in different societies. Visitors can see how people in various places view meals and use food to mark celebrations and everyday moments.
Visitors should book at least two months in advance, as guided tours with lunch are offered. A tour takes around three to four hours and requires reservation beforehand.
The museum shares its building with a factory that specializes in making and researching ham and sausage products. Visitors can observe the production of these items being made by hand in real time.
