역동 유허비, Commemorative stele in Ocheon-ri, South Korea

Yeokdong Yuheobiis a stone commemorative stele located in Ocheon-ri, Andong, in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. It marks the site where the late Goryeo-period scholar U Tak once lived and is listed as a tangible cultural heritage of Gyeongsangbuk-do.

The stele was first erected in 1789 to mark the site where the late Goryeo scholar U Tak had lived. It was renewed in 1880, and in 1976, the construction of the Andong Dam forced its relocation to its current position in Ocheon-ri.

The name "Yeokdong" is the posthumous pen name of U Tak, the scholar the stele honors. Visitors who look closely at the stone can still make out the carved characters recording his reputation as one of the first people to bring the study of the Zhouyi to Korea.

The stone stands outdoors in Ocheon-ri and can be reached on foot. A visit pairs well with exploring the other heritage sites in the Andong area.

The stele originally stood beside a river about 10 ri from Euiyang-ri, a location that was submerged when the Andong Dam reservoir filled. This means the stone visible today no longer stands on the ground where U Tak lived, but on a replacement site chosen after the dam was built.
