Kameņeca Manor

Kameņeca Manor is a manor house in Aglona Parish featuring a central building, stables, and a chapel built in the eighteenth century using neogothic design. The property also contains one of Latvia's oldest water mills and hosts a collection of numerous tree species planted across the grounds.

The manor passed through ownership of several noble families including the Felkerzām, Pavlovici, and Rauti before becoming a Catholic women's monastery in 1927. During Soviet times it functioned as an agricultural school, continuing this educational role until recent years.

The Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus from Vienna ran a convent school here starting in 1929, shaping the place as a center of learning for the region. This period left a strong mark on how locals remember and relate to the site.

The property is best explored on foot, allowing visitors to see the buildings and walk through the wooded areas with the various planted trees. The setting is rural, so plan extra time and bring appropriate clothing for outdoor exploration.

The water mill on the grounds ranks among Latvia's oldest and still operates today, making it a remarkable working piece of industrial heritage. Visitors can observe how traditional milling techniques have been preserved at this location.
