Aglona Basilica

Aglona Basilica is a Baroque church with two tall towers and a white facade showing late 18th-century design features. Inside, vaulted ceilings and religious artworks greet visitors throughout the space.

The current structure replaced an earlier wooden church in 1768 after the original was destroyed. Dominican friars built this basilica over more than a decade, shaping the region's religious life.

The basilica serves as a major pilgrimage destination where visitors from across the region gather to pray and participate in religious observances. People come here to experience faith alongside a larger community.

The site welcomes visitors and offers guided tours to explore the architecture and art collection in detail. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for uneven flooring throughout the building.

A 17th-century painting is venerated here and normally kept hidden but revealed during certain celebrations. These rare occasions draw many pilgrims specifically to witness it.
