The museum occupies an apartment where visitors can explore the preserved living space and personal belongings of Latvian folklorist Krišjānis Barons.
The museum opened in 1983 to honor Krišjānis Barons, who dedicated his life to collecting and documenting Latvian folk songs from 1835 to 1923.
The museum displays a replica of the Dainu skapis, a cabinet containing handwritten Latvian folk songs collected during the late nineteenth century.
The museum welcomes visitors from Wednesday through Sunday, with admission prices of 2 EUR for adults and 1 EUR for students and seniors.
The museum maintains the exact room where Krišjānis Barons spent his final four years, complete with original furniture and personal items from 1919 to 1923.
