Benjamins House, Neo-Renaissance building at K.Barona Street 12, Riga, Latvia.
Benjamins House is a Neo-Renaissance building on K.Barona Street 12 with ornate sculptural details and richly decorated exterior surfaces. The facade features two prominent figures above the entrance and a female statue positioned in an alcove among various decorative elements.
German architects H. Ende and V. Beckmann designed this structure in 1876 for merchant Pfab and his family. The Benjamins family purchased it in 1928, establishing the name by which it is known today.
From 1945 onward, creative professionals gathered here to exhibit and share their work during the Soviet years. The building served as a social hub where local artistic life continued to flourish.
The building now houses the Europa Royale Hotel, where visitors can experience restored interiors that maintain nineteenth-century architectural details. You can explore rooms that preserve original features while offering modern accommodation services.
Seven interior rooms contain decorative glasswork by artist K. Brencens, with notable pieces titled Palace of Light and Lacplesis that showcase exceptional craftsmanship. These ornamental glass installations remain among the most intricate artistic features within the building.
