Bab El Khemis, Military city gate in Meknes, Morocco.

The brick gate stands as a principal entrance in the western section of Meknes, featuring strong defensive walls and traditional architectural elements.

Built between 1686 and 1687 during Sultan Moulay Ismail's reign, the gate served as an entrance to the Jewish quarter and the City of Garden of Amber.

Three verses of poetry inscribed on the gate walls display the construction date in the Islamic calendar, marking 1098 hijri.

The gate maintains its original position at coordinates 33.891402, -5.572407, allowing visitors to explore the historical fortifications of Meknes.

The gate shares decorative elements with Bab el-Bardayin, constructed during the same period, demonstrating the architectural patterns of seventeenth-century Meknes.
