Karawan Riad

Karawan Riad is a boutique hotel set within the Fez medina, built around a restored courtyard dating from the 17th century. Seven individually decorated suites feature antique furnishings, air conditioning, heating, and bathrooms with either showers or bathtubs.

The riad was built around a 17th-century courtyard that preserves traditional Moroccan architecture with marble fountains and open-air spaces. This structure dates from when such homes served as residences for wealthy merchants in the medina.

The place takes its name from the caravans that once carried spices and fabrics across North Africa, a heritage reflected in how the rooms are decorated and arranged. You can see this trading tradition expressed in the furnishings and design details throughout.

Access to the property is through the narrow streets of the medina, so traveling with light luggage is advisable. The on-site kitchen serves Moroccan dishes, and guests can use the spa with hammam as well as complimentary Wi-Fi throughout.

The top-floor suite has a private terrace and a sunken bath set into the floor. This bathing setup is unusual to find within the compact streets of the medina.
