Monument to Jassy–Kishinev Offensive

The Monument to Jassy-Kishinev Offensive is a 35 meter tall structure located in Chițcani that commemorates a major military operation from 1944. It bears inscriptions documenting the events of that period.

The monument commemorates the offensive that took place between August 20 and 29, 1944, which resulted in the defeat of German forces. This military campaign led Romania to change sides and join the Allies.

This memorial serves as a place where visitors come to pay respects and remember those who died during the military campaign. People leave flowers and spend quiet moments reflecting on the sacrifices made.

The memorial is accessible via main transport routes in Căușeni District and can be easily reached from nearby roads. It hosts commemorative events, particularly around August 24 when Liberation Day is observed.

This site marks the exact location where Soviet forces launched an offensive that inflicted approximately 150,000 German casualties. Around 1,500 fallen soldiers rest here, serving as a permanent testament to their sacrifice.
