Equestrian statue of Alexander Suvorov, Bronze monument in Tiraspol, Moldova.
The equestrian statue of Alexander Suvorov is a bronze sculpture depicting the Russian general on horseback, placed in the center of Tiraspol, Moldova. The figure rises on a tall pedestal that lifts it well above street level, making it visible from a distance.
The monument was unveiled in 1979 to honor Alexander Suvorov, who in the late 18th century built a fortress on the site where Tiraspol now stands. That fortress became the starting point from which the city grew.
The statue stands on one of the busiest squares in the city, and locals often use the surrounding area as a meeting point. The figure on horseback is widely recognized in Tiraspol and appears on postcards and city souvenirs.
The statue is easy to find on foot since it sits on a central square in Tiraspol. Visiting during the day gives the best view of the bronze details on both the figure and the pedestal.
The sculpture was made by brothers Valentin and Victor Artamonov, who worked on it together as a duo. Suvorov is also known for having gone through his entire military career without losing a single battle.
