Noul Neamț Monastery, Orthodox monastery in Chițcani, Moldova.
Noul Neamț Monastery is an Orthodox monastery in Chițcani that contains several church buildings arranged around the Ascension Cathedral. A distinctive bell tower rising about 70 meters above the complex can be spotted from across the Dniester River region.
The monastery was founded in 1864 when monks from Romania's Neamț Monastery relocated to escape new restrictions on the use of Church Slavonic language and monastery properties. This move established a continuation of the monastic tradition across the Dniester River.
The monastery shapes religious life through its regular Orthodox services and the training of priests on site. The architecture reflects Eastern Orthodox traditions and draws pilgrims and visitors who want to experience faith practices in action.
The monastery lies south of Tiraspol and is accessible by local transport. Visitors should know that access may vary depending on religious services and appropriate dress is required when entering the churches.
The Dormition church within the complex houses five separate chapels inside its walls, which is an uncommon arrangement. This multiple chapel structure allows simultaneous services and gives visitors insight into specialized religious practices.
