Memorial of Glory, War memorial in Tiraspol, Moldova
The Memorial of Glory is a war monument on Suvorov Square in central Tiraspol, built around a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where an eternal flame burns continuously. A T-34-85 tank from World War II stands on a raised platform nearby, completing the outdoor ensemble.
The complex was built in the early 1970s and opened in 1972 to honor soldiers who died in World War II. Sections were later added to commemorate those who fell in the Soviet-Afghan War and the Transnistria War of the early 1990s.
On commemorative days, people gather at the site to lay flowers and stand in silence near the eternal flame. The space serves as a shared reference point for the city's memory of war and loss.
The site is on Suvorov Square in the city center and easy to reach on foot from nearby streets and landmarks. Visiting in the morning tends to be quieter, while afternoons can bring more activity, especially around public holidays.
The T-34 tank on display is linked to a specific Soviet officer whose unit fought in a major battle in 1945, making it one of the few memorials where a vehicle can be traced to a named soldier. This detail is not widely publicized at the site itself, so most visitors pass by without knowing it.
