Castello Dei Baroni, Heritage event venue in St. Paul's Bay, Malta.
Castello dei Baroni is a limestone building in St. Paul's Bay with two floors, several ceremonial halls, a chapel, and a formal garden. It sits overlooking the countryside around Wardija Hill and serves today as both an event venue and a house museum.
The building started as a rural house in 1783, during the rule of Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc, and was later rebuilt by the Montalto family. That rebuilding gave the castle the form it has today.
The castle holds a library with old texts and an audiovisual exhibition about the Ecumenical Order's presence on the island. Visitors can see how this religious community left a visible mark on the property and its collections.
Since the castle is mainly used for private events and bookings, it is worth contacting them in advance to check when a visit is possible. Arriving without a prior arrangement may mean limited or no access to the interior.
Since 1991, the castle has been the headquarters of the Knights Hospitaller of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, an order that is still active today. This means the building is not just a historic site but a working seat of a living organization.
