Nigerian National Museum, Lagos

The Nigerian National Museum holds over 47,000 artifacts including statuary, carvings, masks, textiles, drums, and archaeological exhibits from various Nigerian ethnic groups.

English archaeologist Kenneth Murray established the museum in 1957, collecting traditional masks from Cross River State for the initial collection display.

The museum exhibits Egungun costumes, Ekpo masks from Calabar, Yoruba clay pots, and ancestral wooden figures representing different Nigerian ethnic traditions.

The museum entrance fees include guide services at 200 nairas for local visitors and 300 nairas for international guests.

A black Mercedes Benz car marks the location where General Murtala Muhammed met his end in 1976, serving as a historical memorial.
