Amstelrust

Amstelrust is a brick manor house on Amsteldijk with a basement and two floors beneath a tiled gable roof crowned by four chimneys and substantial weather vanes. The estate preserves its original gardens and contains a natural swimming pool built around 1930.

The estate was built in 1724 on commission from Jan Steur and changed hands multiple times over the centuries. After World War II, the building underwent restoration and has preserved its historical character since then.

The mansion displays classical Dutch design with symmetrical facades and corner pilasters that convey balance and prosperity. As you walk around, you notice how the double entrance door and carefully proportioned architecture communicate the significance of this place as a residence for a wealthy family.

The property is located at Amsteldijk 319 and is a private residence, so visits must be arranged in advance. The location is best reached from the water and offers views of the Amstel River that flows along the edge of the grounds.

The estate's garden features a curved linden avenue that creates a visual connection to the river. This carefully designed green axis links the house directly to the Amstel and makes the waterway an integral part of the overall design.
