Parkhaven, Port terminal in Delfshaven district, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Parkhaven is a port terminal in the Delfshaven district that extends along the Nieuwe Maas river, connecting the Delfshavense Schie canal with multiple docking stations for commercial and recreational vessels. The area provides 440 parking spaces and direct pedestrian and cyclist access to the Maastunnel.
The port was constructed between 1890 and 1893 to serve as a general cargo transfer point within Rotterdam's expanding maritime infrastructure. This project was part of the city's ambitious port expansion that established its position as a major European shipping hub.
The port features several floating restaurants, including vessels serving Chinese cuisine and traditional Dutch pancakes, which create a dining experience tied to the waterfront itself.
The area is pedestrian-friendly and sits about 10 minutes walking distance from Coolhaven metro station, providing easy access. The docking stations are designed to accommodate both recreational boats and larger commercial vessels without difficulty.
The area will transform with eight new residential buildings ranging from 26 to 70 meters in height, introducing 650 apartments to the waterfront. This development blends the working port with modern urban living and new green spaces along the water's edge.
