Den Alerdinck, Laag Zuthem

Den Alerdinck is a manor house surrounded by a moat, with outbuildings, an orchard, and wooded grounds in Overijssel province. The property includes several structures and provides multiple accommodation spaces on the estate.

The property was first mentioned in 1427 as a taxable farm but developed into a manor house by 1648. Major renovations and modernizations followed after its purchase in 1797.

The estate displays typical features of Dutch noble residences from the 17th and 18th centuries, with preserved architectural details reflecting its past as a manor. The combination of main house, outbuildings, and surrounding grounds conveys how the gentry lived in this region.

In 1830 the property owner constructed a dike of about 3.6 kilometers in length to protect the estate from frequent flooding caused by the nearby Zuiderzee and other rivers. This major undertaking demonstrates how seriously the owner took defending this valuable asset.
