Grasbroek Castle, Renaissance château in Guttecoven, Netherlands

Grasbroek Castle is a Renaissance château in Guttecoven featuring a round brick tower with white-painted facades displaying family coats of arms at the entrance. Today it operates as vacation accommodation with five bedrooms and can host up to fourteen guests.

The castle was commissioned in 1596 by Alexander van Drimborn and Elisabeth van Olmissen after they relocated from nearby Castle Born. Its design reflects the building practices of the Dutch Renaissance period in the Maasland region.

The castle displays original stucco work and fireplaces that reflect the craftsmanship of the Maasland Renaissance period. These details allow visitors to see how the rooms were designed and decorated when the building was new.

Access to the building involves climbing a 400-year-old spiral staircase, so visitors should be aware of the physical demands this creates. Since this is a private vacation rental, visitors should arrange a visit in advance rather than expect walk-in access.

A vineyard on the property produces award-winning red wines from local grape varieties. This blend of historical architecture and working winemaking gives the location an unexpected character that few visitors anticipate.
