Museum de Oude Wolden displays contemporary art exhibitions and regional historical objects in a former mansion near the German border.
Founded in 1973, the museum underwent significant renovations in 2011 and 2012, reopening with expanded facilities on September 28, 2012.
The permanent collection includes works by Dutch painter Lodewijk Bruckman and members of the Groninger artist collective De Ploeg.
The museum welcomes visitors from Wednesday to Sunday, with free admission for children under 18 and adult tickets priced at 7 euros.
The museum maintains a special collection fund called Collectiefonds Westerwolde to acquire regional artworks and historical artifacts.
