Glomfjord power station, Heritage power station in Glomfjord, Norway
The Glomfjord power station features a red brick and granite structure with six vertical Pelton turbines drawing water from Nedre Navervatn lake at 465 meters elevation.
The power station started operations in 1920 with two Pelton turbines, and a third turbine was added in 1922 to meet growing energy demands.
The station's architectural design by Olaf Nordhagen incorporates Art Deco elements with large arched windows, representing early Norwegian industrial development.
The facility currently operates with three generators, primarily relying on generator number 3, and produces approximately 91.5 gigawatt-hours of hydroelectric power annually.
During World War II, Operation Musketoon targeted the station's penstocks and turbine room, disrupting German plans for aluminum production in the region.
