Turek, Provincial municipality in Greater Poland region, Poland

Turek is an urban municipality and administrative center for Turek County, located in the Greater Poland region. The town consists of several neighborhoods connected by road networks to the surrounding areas.

The town was founded in 1136 under the control of the Gniezno archbishops and received official town rights in 1341 through royal decree. This early establishment by church authorities shaped its foundational development.

Residents gather at the central market square and in local spaces to celebrate seasonal events throughout the year. These regular meetings show how the community maintains its traditions and passes them down through generations.

The town sits approximately 117 kilometers east of Poznań and is easily accessible by road. The central layout allows visitors to explore the main areas on foot without difficulty.

The renowned composer Fryderyk Chopin traveled through town in 1826, leaving his mark on Polish musical history. This historical moment makes the place significant for music enthusiasts.
