Józef Piłsudski monument

The Józef Piłsudski monument is a bronze bust showing the marshal in military uniform, positioned on a granite base in a central park of the city. The sculpture captures his formal appearance and includes inscriptions that document his connection to the municipality.

Sculptor Józef Gosławski created the work in 1936 while based in Italy, following a competition organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Association for the commission. The bronze remained in Italy for many decades before the city arranged its transfer and final placement in the park during the 1990s.

The inscription on the pedestal recognizes Piłsudski's bond with Turek and reflects how the community honors this military figure. Locals and visitors come here to acknowledge a leader who held special meaning for the municipality.

The monument sits in a park at the heart of Turek and is easy to reach on foot while exploring the city center. The location remains open and accessible at all times, providing a quiet spot to view and photograph the sculpture.

The bronze was cast by the artist in Italy and spent nearly 55 years there before being shipped back to the city. This lengthy separation makes its eventual installation a story of reunion between the artwork and its intended home.
