Kamieńsk sits 59 kilometers south of Łódź, featuring residential areas and municipal buildings spread across its urban landscape at coordinates 51°12′N 19°30′E.
The settlement received its first historical mention in documents from 1291 and obtained official town rights in 1374 as part of the Greater Poland Province.
The town experienced substantial demographic changes throughout its history, reaching 2,703 inhabitants by 2020 and maintaining records of civil registrations since 1808.
Researchers can access Jewish Civil Vital Records from 1874 and mixed civil registers from 1808 through dedicated genealogical research platforms and local archives.
The settlement carried various names including Canisko, Camiesko, and Kamińsko before adopting its current spelling Kamieńsk in 1918.
