Karczew, Municipality in Masovian Voivodeship, Poland
Karczew is a municipality in Masovian Voivodeship situated along the right bank of the Vistula River southeast of Warsaw. The settlement develops along the riverbank and forms part of Otwock County.
The settlement received town rights from King Sigismund I in 1548, marking its official establishment as a town in the region. This royal grant initiated a new phase in its development.
The Baroque Church of Saint Vitus shapes the town's appearance with its distinctive architecture and serves as the religious heart of the community. It remains a place where local traditions and spiritual life continue to unfold.
Visitors can cross the river using ferry services that have operated regularly since 2014, connecting communities on both sides. The warmer months offer the best conditions for exploring the riverside areas and walking around the settlement.
The area borders the protected Masovian Landscape Park, bringing residential spaces directly alongside nature conservation areas. This arrangement allows visitors to move between settled areas and protected natural spaces within short distances.
