Galeria Szyb Wilson, Art gallery in Janów-Nikiszowiec, Poland.
Galeria Szyb Wilson occupies a former mining bathhouse in Janów-Nikiszowiec with roughly 2500 square meters of exhibition space in an industrial area of Katowice. The building displays rotating exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, and installations within a modernized setting.
Originally called Richtofen and Hulda, the building received its current name Wilson in 1935 to honor a United States president. After serving industrial purposes for decades, it transformed into an art center in 2001.
The gallery presents contemporary works by Polish and international artists within a space that connects the region's industrial past with modern creative expression. Visitors experience how art has reshaped the meaning of this location for the community.
The site is easily accessible by car or bus with free parking for both vehicle types. Visitors with mobility needs will find assistance throughout the exhibition spaces, and guided tours in English are available.
The site hosts the annual Festival of Art Naif, a special event for art lovers focused on naive art forms that is not widely known outside the region. These regular gatherings have given the location a reputation as a meeting place for experimental artistic expression.
