Zbójnicka Jama, Limestone cave in Gorczański Park, Poland.
Zbójnicka Jama is a limestone cave in Gorczański Park with passages extending 330 meters and reaching depths of 122 meters below the ground surface. The interior features several chambers with limestone formations and underground pools.
The cave remained mostly unexplored until 1926 when local authorities first systematically documented its chambers and passages. This early exploration later opened the site to public access.
The name comes from local legends about bandits who once hid in this cave system and stored their stolen goods inside.
Wear sturdy footwear since the cave floor is slippery and uneven in places. It is best to arrange a guided tour in advance through the local tourism office.
During winter months, natural ice formations develop in the cave chambers alongside the limestone formations. This seasonal display makes visiting at different times of year particularly interesting.
